  • Thursday 19 May 2022 May Day Voting It has been an exciting week at Ilmington C of E Primary School. We have been working hard to prepare for our May Day celebrations, which take place on 26.05.22. Parents are invited to come and watch us perform our country dances, sing and for the new May Queen to be crowned.
  • Thursday 19 May 2022 Madame Eribenne's Spanish Club Key Stage 2 have been enjoying Madame Eribenne's Spanish Club this term. They have been working hard to learn how to say Spanish phrases, such as 'My name is..' and to learn numbers in Spanish. They have been enjoying role play. Well done Spanish Club!
  • Monday 25 April 2022 Morris Dancing The children in Class 4 kicked off the Summer Term with their Morris dancing! Volunteers from the Ilmington Morris Team led the first session.
  • Monday 25 April 2022 Spanish Club Spanish Club has started today! Children in Class 4 have been invited to Madame Eribenne's Spanish Club. They started today by thinking about countries where Spanish is the main language and they learned some greetings in Spanish. They have had great fun in their role play tasks!
  • Thursday 7 April 2022 Goodbye Mrs Lant Today was Class 3's last day with Mrs Lant. Mrs Lant has been teaching in Class 3 since January and has been an incredible asset to our school, going above and beyond for the Year 3 and Year 4 children. Mrs Lant has taken charge of swimming lessons and taken the children on a trip in addition to the day-to-day teaching in Class 3. Thank you so much for everything you have done for us Mrs Lant!
  • Wednesday 30 March 2022 Dogs Trust Thank you to Courtney who visited us from The Dogs Trust today. She visited every class and taught us about what they do, interesting facts about dogs and how to be safe around dogs. We learned about dog behaviour and how to look after dogs.
  • Monday 28 March 2022 Collective Worship This term we have been focusing on our Christian value of Forgiveness. Today we talked about a painting by Rembrandt which is called The Return of the Prodigal Son. Some children from Class 4 retold one of Jesus’ parables through drama.
  • Friday 25 March 2022 Online Safety Committee Henry, Ted, Molly, May, Caiden and Bodie (our Online Safety Committee) led collective worship today. They taught us the importance of being SMART online. This stands for…S- safe
  • Thursday 24 March 2022 Toy and Book Sale for Refugees Thank you to everyone who donated money and items to our toy and book sale to raise money for refugees. We are so pleased to be able to do our bit to help.
  • Thursday 24 March 2022 Forgiveness This term we have been learning about forgiveness in collective worship as our Christian value focus. We have learned about some of Jesus' parables that teach us about forgiveness and the children in Class 3 participated in role play to help us to understand how forgiveness plays a part in our lives.
  • Monday 14 March 2022 Stage Combat As part of our arts enrichment at Ilmington School, the children in Key Stage 2 have been participating in stage combat sessions with Mrs Turner and Mrs Curtis.
  • Monday 7 March 2022 School Council Update- The Ilmington Learner Toolkit The School Council led us in collective worship this morning and part of this included an update about our Ilmington Learner Toolkit.The Ilmington Learner Toolkit was devised by the School Council and is a set of skills that the children use to help them to be successful learners. The School Council ran a competition when they revised the skills in 2021 and each child in the school had the opportunity to design a logo for one of the toolkit skills. The children work hard to improve these skills and, if they have demonstrated one of them, they receive a Toolkit sticker and they share their success in Collective Worship.
  • Thursday 3 March 2022 World Book Day It has been a fantastic World Book Day this year at Ilmington School! This year, everyone decided to celebrate a little bit differently. We all dressed up in the theme of 'colour'. Some people chose to wear multicoloured outfits and some people chose to dress all in one colour. We have been having great fun with the World Book Day Competition and we have had some fantastic entries so far. The competition has been extended until Friday so make sure your entry gets to your class teacher before then! Today, each class learned about a story linked to the theme of colour.
  • Tuesday 1 March 2022 Pancake Day Thank you to the House Captains for organising our fantastic Pancake Day races this morning! Everyone had lots of fun taking part and practising their flips! Well done!
  • Friday 18 February 2022 Ferret Visitors Charlie and Mr Edmunds spoke to the class this morning about their passion for ferreting! They brought in their ferrets to show the class and explained their hobby. We had lots of questions about how to look after ferrets! Thank you Mr Edmunds and Charlie!
  • Friday 11 February 2022 Children's Mental Health Week and Dress To Express This week is Children's Mental Health Week and we have been learning about this in our classes. Some children in Class 4 decided to be Mental Health Ambassadors for our school: to see how they can promote positive mental health for our school community. They led collective worship this afternoon where they reminded everyone what mental health is, how they can look after their mental health and what to do if they are worried about their thoughts and feelings. Well done Mental Health Ambassadors! Today we came to school wearing clothes that express who we are! It is Dress to Express Day!
  • Tuesday 8 February 2022 Safer Internet Day 2022 This morning, the E-Safety Committee led collective worship where they reminded us of the importance of being safe on the internet. They reminded us about how great the internetis and all of the things that we can use it for. They taught us about being respectful on the internet and what we can do if we don’t feel safe. Thank you E-Safety Committee and Mrs Gardiner!
  • Monday 7 February 2022 Storytelling Week We have had a fantastic time celebrating Storytelling Week across the school. Each class have learned a different story and we were very excited to share our stories and learning in Collective Worship! We all worked through the storytelling process- listening to the story, mapping the story, coming up with actions, stepping the story out, telling the story to a partner and innovating the story.
  • Tuesday 23 November 2021 The Salvation Army visit Ilmington! We were thrilled this morning to welcome Kit and Brenda, from The Salvation Army, to our school. Kit and Brenda came to tell the Key Stage 2 children all about the work that The Salvation Army do, so that we could learn about where our money will be going to. The Salvation Army is one of our House Charities this year, voted for by the Tigers house. This means that our hard work to raise money during fundraisers will be going to support the work that this charity does. Kit and Brenda explained to us where the donations would be going and we were amazed to learn just how many people The Salvation Army support, both locally and all over the world.
  • Thursday 21 October 2021 Harvest Walk We went on our Harvest Walk this morning, delivering our gifts to residents in the village. We have all made Autumnal hedgehogs and we enjoyed meeting some of the villagers as we took our gifts to their doors. Thank you to everyone who came on our sunny walk this morning. We are looking forward to our Harvest Service tomorrow morning, led by Class 3.
  • Thursday 21 October 2021 Lions Roar to Victory! Well done to the Lions house, who have collected the most house points this term! The House Captains collected all of the house points from each classroom this morning and calculated the total for each house. The Lions came in first place, with 327 house points. The Tigers were second with 296 house points. The Elephants were in third place with 277 house points. Well done everyone! Keep up the hard work.
  • Wednesday 20 October 2021 Ilmington Learner Toolkit The School Council have been busy working on our Ilmington Learner Toolkit this term. This is the toolkit of skills that we use in our learning, and we try to improve the skills that we find trickier. The School Council started by looking at the toolkit skills and they decided to upgrade them. The new words that they chose are: Enthusiasm, Polishing, Pondering, Focus, Perseverance and Friendship.
  • Monday 11 October 2021 Class 4's Magical Maya Morning! This morning, Class 4 were visited by Dr Diane Davies, an archaeologist who specialises in the Ancient Maya.
  • Thursday 7 October 2021 National Poetry Day 2021 We have had a fantastic day celebrating poetry and playing with words!Judge The Poet visited each class to perform poetry and to show us that poetry is fun! In Class 4, the children wrote their own poems with the help of Judge.
  • Monday 4 October 2021 School Council Well done to the children who have been voted onto our School Council for this year! William is our School Council Chair Person, Lilly is our Vice Chair, Freddie is the representative for Year 6, the representative for Year 5 is Carson, Lucy is the representative for Year 4 and Finley is the representative for Year 3. They have started with a very important job: judging the entries for our Ilmington Learner Toolkit Logo Competition. This was a competition that we completed at the end of last year and were not able to judge them at that point.
  • Monday 4 October 2021 Under 10s Rugby Team Well done to the Under 10s Rugby Team!
  • Monday 4 October 2021 Key Stage 2 Sponsored Marathon Well done to all of the children in Key Stage 2 for their incredible efforts in our sponsored marathon this morning! We are so proud of everyone's perseverance, enthusiasm and teamwork. The children ran, walked and jogged laps of the school grounds, earning house points for demonstrating our Toolkit Skills and Christian Values. The children worked as a team to complete 1467 laps! This is equivalent to nearly 7 marathons! What an achievement! The children earned a total of 195 house points to add to their total.
  • Wednesday 29 September 2021 House Captains We are thrilled to announce that our Year 6 House Captains this year are Jasmine, Thea, Grace, Bodie, Will and May. They worked hard to make videos explaining why they would make good House Captains and their peers voted for them to lead their houses this year. Well done to everyone who applied for these roles.
  • Friday 24 September 2021 Roald Dahl Day We have had a fantastic day dressing up and enjoyingRoald Dahl related activities! Well done for all of your efforts in creating fantastic costume ideas.
  • Friday 17 September 2021 Year 7s Return! It was lovely to see the Year 7 children as they returned for tea and doughnuts. Stories of their new schools were shared and it was great to hear all about how they are getting on. We wish them all the best as they start this new stage in their education.Miss West and Mrs Brooks.
