Sports Day, Sporty Tuesdays & Cluster Competitions
The sporting opportunities at Ilmington are extensive and we are ambitious for further development in the coming years. Sports Day is always a popular events on the annual calendar and you can see this years photos in our Gallery.
We work closely with specialist providers and coaches to make sure the children experience a range of physical activities which promote a positive attitudes towards; exercise and the many associated health benefits; good 'sports person' behaviour; a willingness to work hard to improve skills and fitness.
Ilmington children all learn to swim and through Years 3-5 have lessons at Shipston Pool.
The children in the EYFS and KS1 have Gymnastic lessons each week as well as curricular P.E. and sports.
The children in KS2 have 2.5 hours of sport on Tuesday afternoons, encompassing the skills they have developed in KS1 and learning the art of competition in friendly matches, endurance and skills development with our Sports4All coaches and staff. There are a large number of sports clubs too.
Every term we have a Sporty Tuesday where competitions, obstacle courses, keep fit and cross-country runs dominate for an entire day, organised by the Year 6 pupils and overseen by Miss West.
Ilmington school also takes part in a wide variety of inter-school competitions within our Cluster. We compete against all the local primary schools for trophies which provides further enjoyable opportunities for the children to experience.
The Warwickshire Cross-Country races take place each year in Stratford-Upon-Avon and Ilmington is always well represented.
We also have an outstanding Floorball team, run by Mrs. Kemp, and last year were the Cluster Champions at Dodge Ball and Fencing!
