English

'Let us remember: one book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world.'

-Malala Yousafzai

A high-quality English education teaches children to read and write fluently so that they can be successful in communicating their ideas to others. It teaches children to read and listen so that others can communicate to them.

Through reading, children have the chance to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually. Reading for pleasure is more important for children's cognitive development than their parents' level of education and is a more powerful factor in life achievement than socio-economic background. Reading also enables children to acquire knowledge and build on what they already know.

Writing enables us to get our ideas across successfully as well as to express ourselves. Confidence in speaking and respect in listening is given great importance at our school as skills for life as well as vehicles for learning.

All of the skills of language are essential to participating fully as a member of society: children must learn to speak, read and write fluently and confidently in order to succeed.
