Purpose of Study
All maintained schools have a statutory duty to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which includes RE. As a Church of England Primary school, Ilmington is part of the Diocese of Coventry and strive to use Christian Values to live our school life by:
We have Love as our overarching theme; God's love for us and Jesus' commandment that we should love one another.
Class 1 has their value as Friendship as they have to learn to get on with each other and take turns and share. God wants us to be friends and love our neighbours.
Class 2 has Koinonia or Fellowship - 'being' and working together, following on from friendship. They work as a team.
Class 3 has Peace and Forgiveness or Reconciliation because they work with All Saints Primary in Coventry exploring the themes from the Cross of Nails; forgiving others as God forgives us.
Class 4 has Service as they work hard for the rest of the school, using Jesus as their example of The Servant King.
Spiritual development for pupils must include their ability to be reflective about their own beliefs (religious of otherwise) and perspective on life, as well as knowledge of, and respect for, different people’s faiths, feelings and values. Provision for the cultural development of pupils, including their ability to recognise, and value, the things we share in common across cultural, religious, ethnic, and socio-economic communities is vital in preparing them for a life in modern society.
We use the Warwickshire & Coventry greed Syllabus, as prescribed by SACRE.
